Logarithms - if you are in Algebra 2, right now you are probably studying logs and natural logs. Do not fear these concepts. Just think of them as the opposites of exponents. If you remember 'base' and 'exponents' then the transition to logs can be alot easier. Focus on the word base, it is used in both exponents and logs. There also inverse functions, where you need to know how to use the opposites to "get rid of" a log or a base with the variable in the exponent area. There is growth and decay graphs and the log graphs. Just think about growth graphs - the curve must be rising when you look at the graph from left to right.
MARCH MADNESS!
Posted by Bill Brown on Tue, 23 Feb 2010
Where will you be on Sunday, March 13th? Hopefully, I will be sitting in front of a TV with the remote turned to CBS and my bracket sitting on my lap as I fill in the regions. I will be especially focusing on the South Regional that will be played in Houston on Friday, March 26th and Sunday, March 28th. The reason is because I have tickets for those games! I will be sad though because unless UNC Tarheels win the ACC tournament on March 13th, there is no way they will be picked for the Road to the Final Four. They will not be my Final Choice, like they were last year (see my Math Madness page)
My early picks for the #1 seeds of each region are Syracuse for the East; Kentucky for the South; Purdue for the West; and Kansas for the Midwest. Now they may change - come back to the site in 2 weeks for updated picks. My hope is Kentucky loses 3 times, so I do not have to watch them in Houston, but if they are there I will be rooting for any of the other 3 teams profusely! I do NOT like John Calipari. Like Bobby Knight said "how can a top notch program hire a coach that has had his last two teams put on NCAA probation - Memphis and U Mass!"
For any of you friends and family members that like doing a pool, join my pool. I will post scores for each round and your standing. The price for the pool will be $5 for an entry - $2 of each entry will be donated to my favorite ministry - Redeemed - see Resources page***. Tell your friends. So we can give Redeemed lots of money!!
Entries must be to me by Wednesday, March 16th at 11:59 p.m. (email address is christiancoach1995@yahoo.com)and money must be sent to me by check at 318 Hawkstone Way; Alpharetta, 30022 or in person, by Friday March 18th.
You Never Know!
Posted by Bill Brown on Fri, 26 Feb 2010
This blog is dedicated to my friend, Nguessan Esgiban. I found out yesterday afternoon that my friend of 7 years passed away at the age of 33 from Liver Cancer.
I got a call while sitting in my car in the parking lot of my local library. I man with broken English, stated his name - which I did not recognize - and said that he and I had a mutual friend. Being that I had no idea who this man is and that my car has a magnet on my car advertising my business with my phone number, I thought I was being messed with. So I asked this man who are mutual friend is. He stated a name I had never heard of. I said I did not have a friend by that name. He apologized and said that he probably was not saying his name the way I would recognize it. So I asked him, how he knows I am a friend of this unknown name (again, I was trying to be kind, but really felt like I was being punked)
You Never Know! part II

Sorry - I had to shut down my computer and I did not know to put the blog in draft mode, till finished.
I will continue where I left off...the roommate (Achille, sp?) said that I gave this friend a television and a vacuum - immmediately I said Nguessan! He said you are correct. He said the reason for his call was he heard my message on Nguessan's cell phone - I had called him on Monday to see how he was doing and that we needed to go out for dinner [as I type this blog I am so saddened by my friend's passing]. Achille said Nguessan had fallen ill and I said is he in the hospital and he said no - then my stomach dropped and I said "Oh no, did Nguessan pass away?" And he said yes. I felt like throwing up. [Flashback - Not as devestating as when I heard about me SWEET SISTER, Carolyn had passed. It is horrible finding out that people you love have passed, especially when you had no idea that they were sick.}
I immediately asked Achille how he died (as I mentioned in the 1st blog - it was liver cancer). Then I asked when did he pass - he said on January 20th. I let out a sigh of 'Oh No!' Achille apologized for not contacting me, but he did not know my phone number to reach out to me. I said there is no need for apologizing, I just felt bad that I could not pay my respect to his family. I asked if the funeral was in Atlanta or where? I thought possibly that the funeral would take place in his hometown - the Ivory Coast of Africa. He said no - too, costly to do that for his family.
The reason I title this blog - "You Never Know" is because a family member or friend could pass at anytime. No one knows when God will call you home. When I heard that news, I called my girlfriend, but she was at work; so then call #2 was to my parents. My mom said at the end of our conversation - You Never Know! When I hung up with my parents, I tried to call 3 friends. I say to you all - contact people you have not talked to in awhile. Tell them you love them and that you just wanted to know that they were okay.
To my dear friend Nguessan, I will miss you. Thank you for enriching my life!
Blessings to you, your family and the other people that you touched with your kind heart!
